this Saturday, the 6th of October, we're putting on a brand new edition of "Night Kitchen". The Show starts at 8pm sharp at the Al Whittle Theatre. Tickets are $10 at the door and $7 in advance (Just Us or t@b) It's an evening with 13 different local performers in the course of two hours: "Night Kitchen Deluxe". One special feature this Saturday is Rick MacNab, fabulous tune smith and native of the Valley. Also specially featured is Darren Arsenault, a one man remedy for frowns if there's any. More details below.

It's going to be an evening jam-packed with great stuff. More than thirteen different performers will entertain the Night Kitchen audience between 8 and 10 pm! Have you seen Rick MacNab? He's a seasoned performer and one of the Valley's most popular singer/songwriters. Rick's first CD was sold out within days. His performances are always a package of surprises. Last we've seen him perform solo, he sang the story of 26 children being lost. The audience was in stitches. It was a Night Kitchen event at the Whittle, of course.

Another performer, this October, will be Darren Arsenault. Darren was the star of this year's La Have Folk Harder Festival and can often be seen at the Wolfville Farmers Market. Darren is famous for very high energy performances and for pockets of air surrounded by stone. He sings and plays banjo, guitar and harmonica, fast, funny and funky. I usually grin all the way through his performances, start to end. Fasten seat belts, please!

Also performing will be the People's Choice of the 2007 Apple Blossom Idol contest: Laura Trenholm. At 12 years of age, this young woman has an unforgettable voice. We've seen her perform twice already and we're looking forward to hearing her sing for the third time. Night Kitchen will be fun. Kimberly Matheson (singer/songwriter), known for songs about peace and the Gaspereau Valley, will be seen on stage. Caleb Miles, blues singer, front man of the Caleb Miles Trio and lead guitarist of the B-Town Blues Band will participate. Mike Milne, MC of Monday Nights at Paddy's and defender of the Northwest Passage will sing. Kelly Marie Redcliffe, poet and farmers market organizer, will be there. Bob Connon, my nominee for the next Valley Arts Award, will sing and play. Melissa Vidito, co-host of a Thursday open mic at the Stoneroom in Kentville will perform, Frank Harris (gut string instrumentalist), John Lynch (singer/songwriter), Justin Wood (guitar/vocals) with friends and Emily West (singer/songwriter). Wow! All profits from Night Kitchen events go the performers in proportion to their alloted time slots. Tickets will be available from the Grapevine team (see back cover) and Just Us on Main Street in Wolfville. They cost $7 in advance and $10 at the door.
